I am so happy to see the government taking steps to help increase volunteerism and family values. It pains me at times to see how few people offer their time and energy to help others for free. Not too long ago I was helping out with a new housing development for the less fortunate and was so happy to see that non-essential items such as televisions, books, and patio furniture were donated to help those that would be living there feel more at home in their new houses. To see such a caring and giving spirit really made me want to help out more in the future and I'm happy to see that there will now be programs to encourage others to help out as well.
